02 August 2010Cloned Mik
It is illegal to sell milk from cloned cows or their offspring and Dairy Crest has made its suppliers aware that this is not permitted.
Dairy Crest does not believe that any of its suppliers have breached this requirement and supplied milk from cloned cows or their offspring, but following today's media stories we are carrying out further checks.
Dairy Crest processes milk from around 300,000 cows and ensuring this milk is of a high standard and complies with all legislation is our top priority. Both The European Food Safety Authority and the US Food and Drug Administration confirm that there is no risk from the consumption of milk from cloned cows or their offspring.
