Macmillan thanks Dairy Crest’s milkmen for delivering £500,000 for Cancer Support
Dairy Crest staff and customers have raised a staggering £500,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer. Not stopping there, Dairy Crest’s milkmen have been dropping special donation envelopes through letterboxes around the UK this month to raise even more.
Over the past year Dairy Crest staff smashed their target by getting involved in an array of fundraising events from car washes to running for this year’s London Marathon.
Every penny raised will help Macmillan provide financial support for people affected by cancer. Many people find that when they are diagnosed with cancer they are faced with increased costs like hospital car parking or child care, at a time when income is usually reduced. The money raised by Dairy Crest will help Macmillan provide grants to help with everyday living, such as heating bills, a family shop or a much needed break.
If you haven’t received the special donation envelope with your delivery then ask your milkman for more details.
Commenting on the partnership between Dairy Crest and Macmillan, Chris Munn of Dairy Crest, says: ‘We are all absolutely thrilled with the amount of money our staff and customers have raised – it’s exceeded all our expectations. We set ourselves the target of raising £250,000 in one year but have managed to raise double that, thanks to the generosity of our staff and customers.’
Macmillan Cancer Support Corporate Fundraiser, Joe Scheinkonig, said; ‘We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Dairy Crest who has helped raise this incredible amount. We really appreciate the hard work, enthusiasm and support from both staff and customers - it will make a huge difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.’
